The world of plastics is changing. With regard to dynamic and fast-growing markets, there is an increasingly strong demand for flexible and cost-optimal response capabilities both for emerging small and medium-sized enterprises and for established concerns. The KraussMaffei company responds to this development and now offers its customers in Europe and North America two more structurally economical series of injection molding machines: electric injection molding machines precisionMolding, the production of which is currently starting in Sučany, Slovakia, and hydraulic injection molding machines powerMolding.

precisionMolding is the basic machine with a reduced range of optional options of the fully electric PX series, while powerMolding is the counterpart of KraussMaffei’s proven hydraulic GX series. “In the concept of basic machines, we offer our customers the possibility to achieve particularly short reaction times, and therefore also delivery times, and thus respond even more efficiently and successfully to market requirements. This opens up new options and applications for our customers in the markets. At the same time, this naturally opens up the area of new applications and customer circles that we have not yet been able to meet,” says Xiaojun Cui, Executive Vice-President New Machines Business at KraussMaffei.

The precisionMolding series provides the perfect entry into the world of injection molding with a fully electric drive.

Designed for standard injection molding applications

Both precisionMolding and powerMolding machines are ideal for standard applications such as engineering parts, electrical and electronic equipment, automotive, packaging and healthcare industries. The precisionMolding series was introduced in Asia in 2019, the powerMolding series in 2021. Both series have been very successfully established here since then. Customers in these markets particularly value high precision and performance, as well as quick availability and easy operation. And all this at an excellent price/performance ratio. On the occasion of the MSV 2022 in Brno and K 2022 in Düsseldorf, the precisionMolding and powerMolding series are now entering the market in Europe and North America.

Fast ROI and optimal energy efficiency

The precisionMolding and powerMolding series are synonymous with high efficiency and economy according to the KraussMaffei quality standards to which customers are accustomed. For example, it is possible to use a selected spectrum of optional options, for example, a large selection of installation heights of the tool or easy integration of automation solutions, rapid design of system solutions directly to measure is available.

Depending on the application, the powerMolding series enables up to 15 percent higher performance compared to comparable standard machines on the market. Short idling times, high stability of the injection weight and the associated low scrap rate contribute to this. “All in all, our customers get a very quick return on their investment, especially compared to other standard machines on the market,” says Xiaojun Cui.

From the point of view of rising energy prices, the energy efficiency of production is becoming more and more important. The precisionMolding series is characterized by good energy efficiency thanks to the fully electric concept of the machine. The powerMolding series already offers the proven KraussMaffei BluePower servo drive as standard. It optimally controls the pumps according to current needs. In this way, only as much energy as is needed is always consumed. Overall, the powerMolding series enables up to 40 percent better energy efficiency compared to comparable standard machines on the market, depending on the application.

The premiere of the precisionMolding machine at the MSV in Brno

The precisionMolding machine will be presented to the general public for the first time at the MSV fair in Brno at the KUBOUŠEK stand. The 160-540 machine will be up for review, on which the application for the production of polypropylene consumable bowls will be installed. For the Czech and Slovak market, this is a unique chance to get to know the new economic machine, the production of which recently started in Sučany, Slovakia.

Sustainable children’s play – precisionMolding live on K

Sustainability and efficiency for the toy industry were at the center of attention when deploying the precisionMolding 160-750 machine with a closing force of 1600 kN, which will be presented at K 2022. Soft tennis rackets are produced from 100% renewable raw materials. FKUR’s bio-PE material based on sugar cane not only binds CO2 during production, but is also particularly robust and durable and can be 100% recycled after use. This material contributes significantly to the preservation of fossil resources.

An important role in the processing of biomaterial on the precisionMolding machine at the K fair is played by APC plus from KraussMaffei. As with plastics from fossil raw materials, this function of the machine reliably corrects the usual deviations of the process also with biomaterials and thus ensures a consistently high quality of the parts. The economical system solution is also complemented by LRX EasyControl. The linear robot is ideal for Pick and Place applications, it can be easily and intuitively controlled and, in combination with the precisionMolding machine, allows a quick entry into the world of injection molding and manipulation with a fully electric drive.

The processing of 100 percent recycled material is part of the recycling system – powerMolding live on K

The powerMolding 1300-11900 machine with a closing force of 13,000 kN is part of the complete recycling system at the KraussMaffei trade fair stand. It creates door modules for the automotive industry from 100 percent recycled PP. Recycled material comes from insulin pen caps produced on the PX 200-1400 machine. The material is crushed and then, together with additives such as adhesion promoters and liquid dyes, treated in the upcycling process on a ZE 28 BluePower twin-screw extruder.

The function of the APCplus machine also plays an important role in this application on the powerMolding machine. This ensures reliable equalization of the usual deviations between individual batches during the processing of recycled material and thus guarantees a consistently high quality of parts. The integrated linear robot of the LRX series then ensures safe handling of parts.
